The Martinez Brothers (USA)
Les Martinez Brothers, originaires du Bronx et élevés à la passion de leur père pour le Paradise Garage parcoururent le monde entier bien avant qu'ils ne quittent l'école et sont en train de devenir leaders sur le marché mondial de la house music.
En 2013, leur réputation dans l'underground house et la techno est solide et en constante augmentation ; leurs DJ sets sont pleins d'énergie, alimentés par une profonde connaissance de la musique et une capacité innée à guider la foule.
Aujourd'hui, les Martinez Brothers (Steve et Chris) bénéficient d'un planning de tournée mouvementé qui les amène de Tokyo en Ukraine, en passant par leur Amérique natale et par l'Europe.
Après avoir passé du temps à perfectionner leur art aux Etats-Unis, leurs fréquents voyages en Europe les ont aidés à évoluer et Ibiza a renforcé leur réputation.
En 2010, Chris et Steve investirent la célèbre soirée Circo Loco au DC10, qui a fait la renommée de nombreux DJs.
Une saison entière à Ibiza a mené les frères à prendre une résidence au club en 2011.
En tant que producteurs, ils ont livré plusieurs productions impressionnantes, de leurs débuts chez Objektivity, sous la direction de Dennis Ferrer, à des collaborations avec les pionniers DJ Sneak et point G (DJ Gregory).
Sur leur tournée, on peut les entendre découper ou rééditer des pistes pour aider à conduire leurs performances de DJ avec leur style propre.
Ce qui différencie leurs sets de ceux de leurs pairs est leur sens du rythme, informé par leurs racines latines et leur enfance dans les chorales de l'église où ils ont appris à jouer des percussions et du clavier. Latin jazz, salsa et disco sont leurs premières influences et plus tard le hip-hop et, par la suite, house et techno sont devenus leur point fort.
Leur discographie démontre leur polyvalence et leur capacité à déployer des productions dancefloors dès "My Rendition", leur première sortie sur Objektivity en 2006.
Autres faits marquants "Broke In The Bx" également sur Objektivity, et l'omniprésent "H 2 Da Izzo" sur Real Tone, plus des remixes sur Saved, Crosstown Rebels, Bass Culture et l'un des plus gros tube underground d'Ibiza de 2013, Santos Resiak "A Better Light" (The Martinez Brothers Remix), publié sur One Records.
"Bigger Than Prince" de Green Velvet pour le label Circus de Yousef permet encore de les élever au rang des producteurs de talent, pour avoir fourni un tac au groove sombre, brut contrasté par des vocaux accentués.
“E’s Demise” et “The Hat Trick”, co-produits avec le producteur italien Mass Prod, ont été créés au cours de quelques séances de nuit en studio à Berlin en expérimentant des engins analogiques et construits sur le même ton graveleux que "Prince".
2013 a marqué le début de leur série d'événementiels Mad Beats & Crazy Styles à NYC, en collaboration avec Resolute qui leur offre un espace pour explorer les racines de la Dance Music New Yorkaise. Inclus aussi dans le projet, DJ Qu, Rick Wilhite, Kerri Chandler ainsi que Arthur Landing (un groupe qui joue les covers d'Arthur Russell). Ils ont récemment apporté le concept au festival Kazantip en Ukraine où ils ont joué en direct une section rythmique avec Guti au clavier.
Ils ont également créé un nouveau label, Cuttin ' Headz, qui sera le quartier général de leurs expérimentations musicales. Avec leur nouveau label, ils proposeront une gamme encore plus diversifiée de sons, du brut dépouillé des outils techno à l'une de leurs premières amours, le hip- hop.
Leur philosophie est simple ; pas de discrimination, seulement de la diversité, de la bonne musique et de bons moments.

The Martinez Brothers, two young men from the Bronx, raised on their father’s love of the Paradise Garage and road-tested worldwide since before they left high school are emerging as leaders in the global house music market.
In 2013 their standing within the world of underground house and techno is solid and constantly rising – their DJ sets are full of energy, fuelled by the brothers' depth of knowledge and an innate ability to guide the crowd.
Today The Martinez Brothers (Steve and Chris) enjoy a hectic touring schedule that has brought them from Tokyo to the Ukraine, across their native America and much of Europe.
Having spent time honing their craft in the States, frequent trips to Europe helped them to evolve further and the white isle, Ibiza, bolstered their reputation and really put them on the map.
It was in Ibiza in 2010 where Chris and Steve soaked up the sounds inside Circo Loco at DC10, the world famous party responsible for inspiring and baptising some of the world's best-known DJs.
Spending an entire season in Ibiza led to the brothers picking up a residency at the club in 2011, and they were welcomed into the infamous Circo Loco family.
As producers, they have delivered several impressive releases from their earliest days at Objektivity under the guidance of Dennis Ferrer to collaborations with pioneers DJ Sneak and Point G (DJ Gregory).
While on a heavy tour circuit they can be found keenly editing and cutting up tracks to help drive their DJ performances in their signatory layered style.
What further sets them apart from many of their peers is a sense of rhythm informed by their Latin roots and time spent growing up within church bands where they learned to play percussion and keys. Latin jazz, salsa and disco were early influences and later hip-hop and, subsequently, house and techno became their forte.
Their back catalogue demonstrates their versatility and ability to roll out dancefloor-ready productions that date back to their first release “My Rendition” on Objektivity in 2006.
Other highlights include ‘Broke In The Bx’ also on Objektivity and the ubiquitous 'H 2 Da Izzo' on Real Tone, plus remixes on Saved, Crosstown Rebels, Bass Culture and one of 2013's big underground Ibiza hits Santos Resiak "A Better Light" (The Martinez Brothers Remix), which was released on One Records.
Green Velvet's 'Bigger Than Prince' for Yousef's Circus label further speaks to their range as producers as they deliver a dark, raw groove with cut-up vocal accents.
The self-released white label featuring “E’s Demise” and “The Hat Trick”, co-produced with Italian producer Mass Prod, were created during a few late night studio sessions in Berlin experimenting with analogue gear and are executed in the same gritty tone as “Prince”.
2013 marked the beginning of their homespun NYC event series Mad Beats & Crazy Styles in conjunction with events company ReSolute which offers them a space to explore their New York dance music roots. Guests have included DJ Qu, Rick Wilhite, Kerri Chandler as well as Arthur's Landing (a band that plays Arthur Russell covers). They recently took the concept to Kazantip festival in the Ukraine where they jammed live on a rhythm section with Guti on keys.
They have also conceived a new record label, Cuttin' Headz, which will be a home to their musical experimentations. With their new label expect an even more diverse range of sounds, from raw, stripped down techno tools to one of their first loves, hip-hop.
Its ethos is simple; no discrimination, just diversity, good music and good times.
And that's what The Martinez Brothers are all about.
